Event in Vaison-la-Romaine :

La Station Galerie welcomes ceramist Sarah Clotuche for a summer exhibition. For this exhibition Sarah explores the image of the ARCHIPEL, which she borrows from the West Indian philosopher and poet Edouard Glissant. The opening will take place on August 31 at 6pm.

Sarah Clotuche was born in Belgium in 1983.
She lives and works in Le Poët-Laval in the Drôme.

The exhibition Archipel considers the body as a territory, a landscape to be reinvented, pacified and honored.

Because bodies have so much to say, because they are charged with a sometimes violent memory, this reappropriation raises the question
the question: How do we create a territory? How do we create a collective? How do we seize our future?

The archipelago symbolizes what brings people together and forges links between worlds, without diluting or enslaving the other.

For this exhibition, Sarah Clotuche presents a family of pieces in the continuity of her recent research
around fluid identities, presented last April in a solo exhibition MIROIR D'EAU,

at the Centre Céramique Contemporaine La Borne.

Understanding identity as a process in perpetual motion is at the heart of her thinking. The archipelago is
for Sarah, the place of multiplicity, otherness and relationship.
Composed of singular, interconnected islands, the archipelago reflects the complexity of the world and the inextricable reality of the
the inextricable reality of cultural cross-fertilization in our contemporary world.

Bodies in motion, the sculptures seem to emerge from the water represented by the ground, a visible part on land and a part hidden in the depths.
hidden in the ocean depths, like islands rising from a common primordial water.

The figures play on these shifts, becoming river-bodies, rhizome-beings or mermaids. Their nature is hybrid,
shifting.

Shapes caress and mingle, emerge or sink, but never freeze.

On the edge between the gentle and the disturbing, between land and sea, between humanity and animality, between the visible and the invisible, Sarah's work questions our relationship with living things and our way of inhabiting them.
questions our relationship with the living and our way of inhabiting the world.

Archipelago opens up a sensitive space for dialogue and embodied poetry.
