Cecil Gallois, artistic director and co-founder of the Tarentule ensemble, is honoured to present the first edition of "Les Ravissements de Châteauneuf-du-Pape” festival and sketch a historic and artistic fresco of the period around the year 1600. The festival symbolises an opportunity to connect the papal history of Châteauneuf with the event's primary ambition, which is to truly bring the arts, in all their forms - music, dance, theatre - to life, so that there is never a dull moment for local residents.

Thursday 9 May 2024 at 7 pm: "AUTOUR DE RABELAS" DINNER-CONCERT
Performed by the Tarentule ensemble
A dinner as in the time of Rabelais, with Pantagruel as your companion. Taking place in the magnificent cellar of the Condorcet wine estate, the Tarentule ensemble will accompany food and wine, with works by Clément Janequin and Roland de Lassus. Limited places.

Saturday 11 May 2024 at 7 pm: "LES MOTETS À DOUBLE CHŒUR DE GABRIELI" CONCERT

The festival's flagship event is the concert by the Gabrieli composers - uncle and nephew Andrea (1533-1586) and Giovanni (1555-1612) - around "grands motets à double chœur", directed by Cecil Gallois and performed by the Tarentule ensemble and the Ravissements choir.

Sunday 12 May 2024 at 6 pm: APÉRITIF SERENADED BY "LES CANONS DE HENRY PURCELL" AND OTHER RENAISSANCE DRINKING SONGS

The first edition of the festival will draw to a close with the "canons" of Henry Purcell, as well as other Renaissance drinking songs. These songs, like the Gabrieli concert, are the result of workshops with choristers from the region, under the direction of Cecil Gallois in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It will all be performed "glass in hand" at the centre of the village, at "la Mule du Pape" wine bar. We look forward to seeing many of you there!
