Mozart's Requiem is one of those few works that must be heard at least once in a lifetime in concert.
An unfinished score by a composer in the twilight of his life, this Mass for the Dead is a miracle of lyricism and depth, where we move from contemplation to anger, from lament to hope, as you listen to the solo voices or the choir and the astonishing modern orchestration by composers such as Franz Xaver Süßmayr, a composer who would certainly have been forgotten today had he not succeeded in the audacious, if not impossible, challenge of following in Mozart's footsteps.
