Event in Avignon :
The Eglise des Célestins in Avignon is home to the Musée International des Arts Modestes, created in 2000 in the town of Sète (France).
MIAM, founded by nationally and internationally renowned artists Hervé Di Rosa and Bernard Belluc, exhibits works by artists of all generations and backgrounds, both recognized and anonymous, from the popular arts to art brut, from comics to applied art, and of course from contemporary art.
This museum, atypical among artistic structures in France, is a place for encounters and discoveries of countless creative artistic approaches. Each exhibition is a new experience that allows us to map the thousand and one regions of modest art. For years, Hervé Di Rosa has been working to define their contours and name their territories in a series of maps. The de-hierarchization of art territories is one of the principles of MIAM.
An anthology of MIAM's curiosities will be displayed in the spaces of this former church, housing groups of works assembled according to the themes of the museum's collections and exhibitions.
Free admission.
