Hiking path: Beaumes Rouges
Tourist service in Fontaine-de-Vaucluse :
This lovely hike in the hills above the village of Fontaine-de-Vaucluse is easy and suitable for all ages, giving you a glimpse of some typical Monts de Vaucluse fauna and flora.
The Sorgue river flows, emerald-green, beneath an imposing cliff face and down through the village of Fontaine-de-Vaucluse. All around, an abundance of Mediterranean vegetation grows wild. On the breeze you catch the scents of thyme and rosemary as you stroll along. When the sun sets, the rocks and their eroded hollows are bathed in orange and red light. This technicolour display is what gave Les Beaumes its name. The dry stones that are so ubiquitous in Vaucluse provided materials to build the local huts known as bories. You’ll see three of them.
