Aubignan
Discovery trail at the Belle-Île wetlands
Tourist service in Aubignan :
This man-made site has, paradoxically, seen a blossoming of exuberant wildlife. This is certainly the case in the Aubignan wetlands, known by the pretty nickname "Belle-Île" (Beautiful Island). Family walk.
Formed at the convergence of several waterways (Seyrel, Lauchun and Brégoux), this area has served as a floodplain.
Farmers used this water to irrigate pastures and collected clay to maintain embankments. In this way, man and nature have come together to make this site into a mosaic of different wooded wetland areas that are home to a remarkably diverse flora and fauna. You might come across a variety of species including red kites or beavers.
Don't forget to bring your camera!
