Urban stroll in Avignon: 'Avignon on foot, from the essentials to the hidden treasures

Enjoy discovering local secrets and anecdotes as you get to know the Papal City on foot!

Before you begin, we advise that you prepare as if you were going on a real hike in the countryside - that is, good walking shoes, a backpack with a water bottle and suncreen, protection from the rain or the infamous Mistral wind.

You can do this hike in both directions. We have chosen to present it in the counter-clockwise direction, beginning in front of the Avignon Tourism Office. But you can totally choose another starting point and follow this hike in the other direction.

Time: approximately 3 hours (not including any stops)
Distance: approximately 10 km
Extension via Isle of Barthelasse: approximately 3 km more
Difficulty: Easy. Flat except for walking up to the Rocher des Doms.
