Chemin Urbain V

The path starts in Nasbinals, where you hike in beautiful, varied landscapes in Aubrac, the Causses, Mont Lozère, the Tarn river canyons, the Cevennes, and the Rhône valley, where you reach Avignon where Guillaume de Grimoard was elected pope and installed in the papacy under the name of Pope Urban V in 1362.

This is an itinerary which a spiritual dimension, that combines nature and history. Four UNESCO World Heritage sites are on this itinerary: the Compostela path (GR65), the Causses and the Cévennes ranked for their agropastoralism, the famous Roman aqueduct the Pont du Gard, then of course Avignon with the Palace of the Popes and Saint-Bénézet bridge.
