The aim of the ATP is to work towards renewing dramatic forms and broadening the theatrical public, in favor of quality theater accessible to all, young and old alike, in keeping with the mission of Jean Vilar, whose work they continue throughout the year.

Closely linked to the TNP, this structure, the oldest of Avignon's theaters, strives to promote culture by accompanying spectators through the illumination of the works presented.
