Fontaine-de-Vaucluse
Château des Évêques
Tourist service in Fontaine-de-Vaucluse :
Perched high above the village, the ruins are a very pleasant place to stroll. From there, the view embraces an exceptional panorama of Fontaine de Vaucluse, the spring and a large part of the region.
Built around 1030 (probably at the same time as the Church): a deed of gift mentions it in 1034, but the ruins that exist today date from the beginning of the 13th century.
It was in this castle that François Pétrarque visited his friend, Philippe de Cabassole, bishop of Cavaillon
