La maison cardinale
Tourist service in Bollène :
The romanesque house (XIIth century) is called "Cardinale" because it may have sheltered in the XIVth century the cardinal of the Avignon Curia.
The monument was then sporadically used to house prelates. It probably received within its walls pope Clement V (1305-1324) may 19 1312, on his return from the Council of Vienne (Department Isere). Rectangular, "Cardinale" house has two levels, accessible by a beautiful door, returned after restoration. Romantic, Renaissance or modern styles are juxtaposed by the different doors and windows, proof that links up with changes have been made over the centuries. Finally note, the roofing made of flat stones.
