To appreciate peace and tranquility, nothing could be better than the town of St-Marcellin-lès-Vaison.
Just 2 kilometres from Vaison-la-Romaine, it consists mainly of a dispersed settlement.
Upon your arrival, you will notice the chapel of Sainte-Marie-Madeleine next to the large cypress on your left, the only religious building in a town, which has no parish church.
Continuing along the road, you will reach the village square, the main meeting place where the school and town hall are located.
The place has been inhabited since the time of the Romans. A statue of Jupiter and another of Bacchus were discovered.
In the Middle Ages, Saint Marcellin passed from the Princes of Orange to the Taulignans, whose private castle stands in the middle of a large park. It is home to an old Romanesque chapel. Lacking significant historic monuments, the town has gradually urbanized and offers the opportunity to enjoy the quiet of the countryside.
On a hilltop not far from the village, you can still make out the traces of what was probably an ancient castle, only a few walls are left today.
