The St. Lawrence Church Cabrières d'Aigues is the product of a troubled history, like the relationship between Catholic and Protestant. Originally, the small building is a communal press, whose floor is occupied by Protestants as a temple of the village. With the persecution of Protestants, a royal edict of 1663 ordered the destruction of places of worship. However, the press is preserved. After much vacillation between the church and the villagers predominantly Protestant, the press is converted into a chapel. A choir is carved into the rock, anda porch and belfry were added. During the Revolution, new twist: it was requisitioned as Hall of the People. It is returned to the Catholic Church at the beginning of the 19th century. It vivotejusqu'au early 20th century and it is restored. In 1951, it is still amputated part of its surface: the porch was removed to enlarge the place and a new facade was rebuilt. Inside, the arches and the sacristy, carved into the rock, give it a special charm.A golden bust of Saint Laurent and a very primitive baptismal font are its only adornments.
