The earlier history of the chapel is revealed by a visit the Archbishop of Aix makes our current church 1630.Dans church he said that a painting is just "the old church or Notre Dame Consolation ". A small side window suggests that the chapel was older than the restoration of the sixteenth century. 1092 text mentions a church "St. Mary Tribullanis". The people living around it, on the crêt where now the castle, had to leave the site destroyed as a result of Germanic invasions and settled in Châteauneuf-Notre-Done (Provençal form of Notre-Dame). The priest of the chapel a place of personal worship, and perhaps the place where he wished to be buried, as was the custom then. Later he founded in the church of La Bastide, another chapel under the title of "Ecce homo" which eventually will be his burial. Bartholomew Gauzan had family ties with a rich family of notaries and citizens of La Bastide, the Martin. " In 1680, Sir John Bernard Coriolis, son of the lord, priest of the place, the renovated offers a chalice with paten its money where arms of the lord of the Bastide are carved chapel. Two years later, the Archbishop of Aix, during his pastoral visit, notes the good condition of the chapel. But in the eighteenth century, the chapel was abandoned again, the title of "Our Lady of Consolation" is transported to the parish church.Only two fraternities of men, that of "Our Lady of the Holy Rosary" and the "Saint Joseph", continue to hold their meetings. These brotherhoods were made of the richest men in the community, their primary goal was to help the most disadvantaged. In 1742, the priest's sister, Therese Morellet, founded Masses "requiem", including the chapel, but the archbishop refused as Masses are to be said, they will be held in the church. Also the founder bequeaths "11 pounds 6 sols per year to buy books of devotion to the use of" poor girls "who go to schools, recital the importance and necessity they are educated and learn to read so they advance in the practice of virtue. " What happens to the chapel at the time of the French Revolution? It is so bad it is not even inventoried as "national property" and not sold. It then enters the heritage of the town. During the separation of church property and the state, in 1907, it remains as the church and the chapel of Saint-Marc, communal property, but the priest has free use.
