The facade of an old workshop, a stone base, a wall in front of an inner courtyard... Simple and ordinary, the building, now partially modified, is coated with an unalterable emotional charge that makes it a historical landmark.

It's impossible to walk along Avenue Foch in the center of Valréas without imagining the fury and horror that gripped the town on June 12, 1944. The chilling words that sum up the tragedy are engraved on the intact wall: "There they were, facing this wall, waiting to die, victims of Nazi barbarism".
Captured resistance fighters and local residents taken hostage - a total of 53 victims - were shot in cold blood on this sidewalk.
After the Normandy landings, the Resistance intensified. The forces surrounding the enclave regrouped and moved into Valréas on June 8. But on June 12, the town was retaken by the Germans, who carried out severe reprisals.
Listed as a historical monument, the Wall of the Fused will forever bear the imprint of that day.
