Château de Val Seille and its Gardens
Tourist service in Courthézon :
Val Seille welcomes you to its magnificent gardens, complete with ornamental ponds, grottoes, fountains, rose garden, mature plane trees, comfortable benches, aviary, and pretty river. The Château interiors are equally grand, with a monumental listed staircase, art gallery, conservatory and winter garden.
Courthézon boasts one of the finest town halls in the region – the Château de Val-Seille, built in 1868 by native son and famous maritime entrepreneur Elie Dussaud, and acquired by the council in 1952.
A Provençal mini-Versailles by day, it is transformed into a fairytale palace at night, swathed in magical lighting playing on variations of blue. Throughout the sumer, this idyllic setting forms a backdrop to concerts, theatre, dance, and folkloric displays by local or visiting performers. After the show, performers mingle with the audience for a drink.
