Tourist service in Malaucène :
The small, charming village of Malaucène is located on the north slope of Mont Ventoux, 21 km from the summit. It is a designated Town of Art and History and twinned with Mahberg (Germany); follow the signposts through its narrow alleyways as far as the calvary. Or, if your prefer, you can try out one of the many hiking trails, bike circuits or horse treks that set off from Malaucène and the surrounding area.
From Malucène, located at 357 metres above sea level, continue upwards, passing through a succession of hamlets, until you reach Beaumont du Ventoux – at 1,400 metres - with its wealth of treasures, including orchards, Roman chapels, artisan pottery and a Bistrot de Pays.Stop off, along the mythical Mont Ventoux route, at the lovely little chapel of Notre-Dame du Groseau, where exhibitions and concerts are held in the summer and then, a few metres further up, enjoy a refreshing drink from the spring with the same name. 15 km further on, you’ll come across the winter/summer resort of Mont Serein (Beaumont du Ventoux hamlet) where you can try out a range of activities or simply relax and enjoy the fresh air, protected from the Mistral wind. Once back on flat land, you can head for the delightful little village of Le Barroux, with its monasteries and Medieval castle.
Of course, you may just wish to quench your thirst in the café terraces, sample some of the delicious meals served in the many restaurants, enjoy the wide range of accommodation available, taste some of the local produce from regional producers, relax at the Spa Ventoux Provence or stroll around the village shops.
