We meet at Fort Saint-André in Villeneuve lez Avignon. And off we go for a 6 km warm-up along the cliffs of Les Angles, then on to the Issarts plateau to join the garrigue of Provence. We find refuge at the Dève spring, a shady little paradise, for a well-deserved picnic and siesta. And to stay in this unspoilt, natural atmosphere, we spend the evening and night at the Jardins de Cynara, an estate sheltered from time.

The next day, it's a rush to get to the water flowing at the foot of the town of Montfrin. We climb further up the hill, pass through the small town of Théziers, then catch a glimpse of the Gardon. A timely gift after a hot morning's walk. The lawn at the Bellerive campsite is the ideal place for a siesta. From the heights of Comps, we watch the setting sun shower the Rhône valley with its rosy light, and doze off on the bus home.
